Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the level of satisfaction among students of the Islamic Banking Study Program at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi toward Islamic and conventional banking product services. The study is motivated by the phenomenon that conventional banks remain more widely used among students despite their academic background in Islamic banking. This research employed a quantitative approach with a comparative design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students from the 2022–2025 cohorts who had experience using both Islamic and conventional banking services. The research variables consisted of Islamic banking product services (X1), conventional banking product services (X2), and student satisfaction (Y). Data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, an F-test, and the coefficient of determination. The results show that Islamic banking product services do not have a significant partial effect on student satisfaction, whereas conventional banking product services have a positive and significant effect. Simultaneously, Islamic and conventional banking product services significantly affect student satisfaction, with an R² value of 0.098. Comfort, ease of access, transaction speed, digital facilities, security, and information transparency are important factors in shaping student satisfaction. These findings indicate that both Islamic and conventional banks need to continuously improve practical and digital service quality to meet the needs and expectations of young banking customers.
