Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of lifestyle, Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), and online shopping convenience on Shopee PayLater usage among Generation Z in Mendalo Indah Village. This study employed a quantitative approach using primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 Generation Z respondents. The respondents were selected using purposive sampling, while the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that lifestyle has no significant effect on Shopee PayLater usage, with a t-statistic of 1.799 and a p-value of 0.072. FOMO has a positive and significant effect on Shopee PayLater usage, with a coefficient of 0.437, a t-statistic of 5.194, and a p-value of 0.000. Meanwhile, online shopping convenience has no significant effect on Shopee PayLater usage, with a coefficient of 0.003, a t-statistic of 0.050, and a p-value of 0.667. The R² value of 0.445 indicates that lifestyle, FOMO, and online shopping convenience explain 44.5% of the variance in Shopee PayLater usage. These findings demonstrate that the psychological factor of FOMO plays a more dominant role than lifestyle and technical convenience in explaining Shopee PayLater usage among Generation Z.
