Focus and Scope
The subject of Al Hakam: The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Family Law and Gender Issues covers textual and fieldwork with various perspectives of Islamic Family Law, Islam and gender discourse, fiqh al-nisa', case study of marriage and legal drafting of Islamic civil law.
Peer Review Process
Every article published in the Al Hakam: The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Family Law and Gender Issues is processed by double-blind peer-review.
Articles submitted are reviewed by the editorial team as the initial process. Editorial team will evaluate the feasibility of the content, focus, and methodology in the article. The articles are then sent to one reviewer at the position Double Blind Review. Notes from reviewer then sent back to the author to be adapted to the standards of journal writing. Decision of the revised manuscript will be re-evaluated in the meeting of the editorial board. Later, the decision of editor in the final meeting will be informed to the author.
Editor of Al Hakam: The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Family Law and Gender Issues responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted must be published. Validation of these works and their importance for researchers and readers should always push the decision. The editor can be guided by a policy board of editors of the journal and is limited by law as to be enforced regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism (plagiarism). Editors can confer with other editors or the assessment team in making this decision.

Plagiarism Policy
Al Hakam: The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Family Law and Gender Issues recognizes that plagiarism is not acceptable for all authors and therefore establishes the following policy stating specific actions (penalties) when plagiarism is identified by Al Hakam: The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Family Law and Gender Issues anti-plagiarism software detection using Turnitin software (https://www.turnitin.com) and iThenticate (https://www.ithenticate.com/) in an article that is submitted for publication.
When plagiarism is identified by the Plagiarism Checker (using Turnitin and iThenticate software), the Editorial Board is responsible for the review of this paper and will agree on measures according to the extent of plagiarism detected in the article in agreement with the following guidelines:
Minor Plagiarism
A small sentence or short paragraph of another manuscript is plagiarized without any significant data or idea taken from the other papers or publications.
Punishment: A warning is given to the authors and a request to change the manuscript and properly cite the original sources.
Intermediate Plagiarism
A significant data, paragraph, or sentence of an article is plagiarized without proper citation to the original source.
Punishment: The submitted article is automatically rejected.
Severe Plagiarism
A large portion of an article is plagiarized that involves many aspects such as reproducing original results (data, formulation, equation, law, statement, etc.), ideas, and methods presented in other publications.
Punishment: The paper is automatically rejected and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles to the journal.

The non-commercial use of the article will be governed by the Creative Commons Attribution license as currently displayed on Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License..
2. Author(s)' Warranties
The author warrants that the article is original, written by stated author(s), has not been published before, contains no unlawful statements, does not infringe the rights of others, is subject to copyright that is vested exclusively in the author and free of any third party rights, and that any necessary written permissions to quote from other sources have been obtained by the author(s).
3. User/Public Rights
Al Hakam spirit is to disseminate articles published are as free as possible. Under the Creative Commons license, Al Hakam permits users to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work. Users will also need to attribute authors and Al Hakam on distributing works in the journal and other media of publications. Unless otherwise stated, the authors are public entities as soon as their articles got published.
4. Rights of Authors
Authors retain all their rights to the published works, such as (but not limited to) the following rights;
- Copyright and other proprietary rights relating to the article, such as patent rights,
- The right to use the substance of the article in own future works, including lectures and books,
- The right to reproduce the article for own purposes,
- The right to self-archive the article,
- The right to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the article's published version (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal (Al Hakam).
5. Co-Authorship
If the article was jointly prepared by more than one author, any authors submitting the manuscript warrants that he/she has been authorized by all co-authors to be agreed on this copyright and license notice (agreement) on their behalf, and agrees to inform his/her co-authors of the terms of this policy. Al Hakam will not be held liable for anything that may arise due to the author(s) internal dispute. Al Hakam will only communicate with the corresponding author.
6. Miscellaneous
Al Hakam will publish the article (or have it published) in the journal if the article’s editorial process is successfully completed. Al Hakam editors may modify the article to a style of punctuation, spelling, capitalization, referencing and usage that deems appropriate. The author acknowledges that the article may be published so that it will be publicly accessible and such access will be free of charge for the readers as mentioned in point 3.
